Aguatura | Protecting Nature Through Knowledge & Action

Protecting Nature Through Knowledge and Action

Aguatura is a non-profit organization that brings together people, knowledge, and experience to protect ecosystems, promote sustainable water management, and safeguard biodiversity

Our Purpose

At Aguatura, we bring people together around environmental protection by connecting the knowledge and experience of different organizations, experts, and institutions.

We believe that real change happens when ideas, experiences, and solutions are shared: across communities, disciplines, and countries. No single organization, expert, or nation can protect nature alone.

Because the best ideas are rarely found in one place: follow our journey as we discover inspiring sustainability practices around the world.

At Aguatura, our work is guided by two urgent environmental topics : the sustainable management of water and the protection of biodiversity.

But the way we approach them is what makes us different: instead of working in isolation, we engage with existing NGOs, experts, and communities around the world, learning from their experiences and sharing their knowledge so that proven solutions can travel where they are most needed.

Our Focus and Approach

Sustainable water management project supported by Aguatura

Water Management

Water is the foundation of life. It sustains ecosystems, feeds communities, powers economies, and shapes landscapes. Every river, wetland, aquifer, and coastline plays a role in keeping our planet (and our societies) in balance.

Yet freshwater resources are under growing pressure. Pollution, overuse, unsustainable agriculture, and climate change are reducing water availability and quality in many parts of the world. Rivers are drying up, wetlands are disappearing, and countless species that depend on aquatic habitats are at risk. At the same time, billions of people still lack reliable access to safe water.

Protecting water is not only an environmental challenge ... it is a social, economic, and cultural one. It requires understanding the value of water in all its forms, and finding ways to use, manage, and protect.

Biodiversity-friendly and climate-resilient forest

Biodiversity

Biodiversity is the extraordinary variety of life on Earth : from microorganisms and insects to plants, animals, and entire ecosystems. It is what makes our planet resilient, productive, and beautiful, and what allows life to thrive.

But biodiversity is disappearing at an unprecedented rate. Habitat destruction, pollution, invasive species, overexploitation, and climate change are pushing more and more species toward extinction. Every loss weakens the ecosystems we all depend on for food, water, clean air, and climate stability.

Protecting biodiversity means more than saving individual species. It means preserving the intricate web of relationships that connect all living things — the forests, wetlands, oceans, and grasslands that form the living fabric of our planet.

Our Approach - Engagement and Learning

We believe that many of the solutions the world needs already exist:  in the work of local NGOs, researchers, communities, and passionate individuals who dedicate themselves to protecting nature. Aguatura's role is not to replace them, but to connect with them, listen to them, and learn from their experiences.

By engaging with people and organizations across countries and cultures, we bring together diverse perspectives and help successful ideas travel where they are most needed. Through podcasts, interviews, meetings, and collaborative projects, we share knowledge, tell the stories behind environmental work, and build bridges between those who care.

Because protecting nature is a shared responsibility: the more we learn from one another, the more effective we become.

Biodiversity-friendly and climate-resilient forest in Bavaria, Germany

Forest restauration

In the heart of Bavaria, we support the transformation of an existing forest into a more biodiversity-friendly and climate-resilient ecosystem. Together with local partners, we explore how forests can adapt to a changing climate while providing habitat for a wide variety of species.

Along the Danube

Following the course of the Danube, the Danubia project explores the vital role of rivers in providing water, supporting biodiversity, and shaping the communities along their banks. Through sustainable travel, we document the challenges and inspiring initiatives found along one of Europe's greatest rivers.

WWF Colombia

In partnership with WWF Colombia, we work with local initiatives dedicated to protecting nature and improving water management : including projects around the metropolitan region of Bogotá. Together, we highlight the crucial work of Colombian communities safeguarding water resources and biodiversity.
